Social Functioning

This counselor training course is designed to provide a framework for both diagnosing and treating clients who experience low satisfactions, high frustrations complicated by an absence of internal values directing their lives. With the aid of the Heimler Scale of Social Functioning, which serves both as a diagnostic and treatment framework,  the counselor  will then be in a position to determine the best treatment direction which could range from immediate, massive intervention to assisting the client through a period of transition to acquire a healthier life style. This treatment methodology takes in consideration all matters of addictive, dependent and dysfunctional life situations.

This methodology of counseling is based on the work of the late Professor Dr. Eugene Heimler, a survivor of the holocaust. Its success was recognized internationally for its ability to tap into the client’s energy to take responsibility for required change. Through the funneling treatment process, the client is guided to fully experience him/herself, is aided to come to a clear summation, decides on the  required action and is supported to follow through. Progress is both recognizable and measurable with the Heimler Scale.

This methodology is presented in three parts:

  • a four-day Phase I introductory workshop to Human Social Functioning principles and practices.
  • a two month practice period to complete three client sessions ‘back home’
  • a three-day Phase II presentation and further development workshop to achieve mastery at the Practitioner Level.

This counselor training workshop is credited with 42 hours by C.A.C.C.F
